A Difference

Here I am, a tiny branch connected to a tree
Look closely I’m the smallest one
Look closer can’t you see?
To those who pass, I feel so sad, too busy to even care
Compassion for the tiny ones
Too scared to even dare

My buds do blossom in the spring, in summer my leaves spread
Fall is when the leaves all change
My leaves they all turn red
Winter comes, my leaves all fall, I’m left cold and bare
As I said too many times before
Does anyone really care?

Chilling winds will come and go,
In the wind my leaves do blow
I shiver and sway to the hollowing sound,
As the wind drives through the snow

A child walks by and sees me there
He stops to look and stare
Changing slowly, the child face he turns around and beams
Joy and comfort flows through his body
And out his toes it streams

Fulfilling is my life today
One child’s world shines bright
Because I’m only a tiny branch,
Shining through the light

The others never mattered much
Because they couldn’t see
Only what a child could
The beauty inside of me
