Shadows lurked behind closed doors,
The windows showed them clearly.
Whispers haunt the silent night,
And I could hear them just barely.

They spoke of creatures that spawned at night,
And entered your dreams as you sleep,
Creatures that suck your soul and harbor horrible nightmares.
These creatures enter your mind and run skin deep.
The travelers from the north abstain from sleep,
For they were afraid of dying in horrible dreams.
But not everything they say is as silly as it seems.

For I have once had nightmares recurring over and over,
I was too scared to sleep; scared of horrible dreams.
I dreamt of the creature who sat in my room,
Staring at me with glaring eyes.
It crept towards me slowly but surely bringing message of my doom.
And every time the creature touched my heart with its cold finger,
I would wake up but the feeling of its presence in my room still lingers,
Even to this day.
