Okay, I grew up with music from the last century, namely the 70s, 80s, and 90s. I enjoy this music, and believe that the music industry has gone downhill. My mother, as well as many others I've discussed the topic with, agree with me. What I am getting from most morden music videos is the idea that society has become obsessed with sex, drugs, and alcohol, things that should have no place in the media, at least not in the levels they are. Talent is another concern, because hardly any singers seem to have it these days. Recording companies are searching for "good-looking" people, those that have the image and attitudes they are looking for, and cover up the issue of talent with autotuning and instrumental tracks created almost entirely with a computer.

Granted, I do tend to overgeneralize things, but it does concern me that we allow our young children, the future generations of our planet, to be exposed to such things at an age when they should be learning compassion and politeness, two more things human populations are beginning to lack; but that's a debate for another time. My main concern is the future, and what may happen because of the ideals thought of as acceptable. I've read articles that tell of the music industry, that it is falling at a fast rate, and that more and more people are turning to music made in the twentieth century, back when people, in my opinion, actually had talent and needed more than a nice face or body to make it in Hollywood, and that brings me to the next point of my debate: media.

More than once, I've seen films where the leading lady is a blond with large breasts, a lot of make-up, and expensive tastes. And are, more often than not, concerned with their weight to the point that they develop an eating disorder, and usually turn to dangerous, sometimes illegal, means to keep themselves thin. And there are times when it goes too far, and they end up killing themselves. For reasons I don't quite understand, the pressure is greater on females than it is males, though I suppose it has something to do with the fact that males are the dominant sex in our society. Now, being a girl myself I don't agree with this, but there are a lot of people who succumb to the pressure, and end up destroying, not only their lives, but the lives of those around them.

I see this image all the time in films and on TV, and I can tell you that it is entirely fake. Most men don't want anorexic girls, or any who believe that image is everything. Sure, they'll check them out, want to spend a night with them, but most of the time nothing more than that. I myself find the image disgusting, but I don't think I'll bore you with those details. Anyway, what I am saying is that something needs to be done, and soon, or who knows where we'll end up! Human society is poor enough as it is, and we don't need help in bringing ourselves any lower. I know there are those who will agree with these statements, and there are those who won't. Either way, you are free to express your opnions, but just be careful who you argue with, unless you're prepaired to face what is coming to you.
