A rigid handshake but a lingering stare

You thought I could not see to see but I knew you were there

My eyes remained on my book but my attention drifted

As I felt the air and atmosphere as it shifted

You found me in my darkest place

But still you held me - kept in your embrace

Gentle touches bring me out – out of my mind

I knew I was gone – gone and blind

You revealed your dark soul but I stilled

Remaining frozen – solid - chilled

My judgements, thoughts, beliefs were in uproar

Doubt, Hesitation as I stared at the door

But when I see you, I’m so far gone

Just stay with me – don’t leave me alone

I’d forget the past when our lips meet

The world – absent and I feel the heat

I’d give my life if it meant that you remain

If you hurt, I’d stay and absorb the pain

Without you, I’m trapped in heavy air

You’re in my morning and goodnight prayer

As long as I live, I love

As long as you’re here, I have

My heart, my half, my soul

Yours forever, in body and all
