 Food for thought
A poem by a biologist

Oh cyanobacteria
I really can’t come near ya
You make a mess of all my swimming spots

There are so many of ya
My little cyanobacteria
The puddles, ponds, the oceans lakes and lochs

If you were big and we were small
I think we all would be appalled
To learn we make a very tasty snack

I don’t think we could ever master
Even at our current stature
How to survive a bacterium attack

I can’t blame you, when I think
Of all the water that we drink
We must be full of all the things you like to eat

I’m so very very glad;
It would be monsterously bad
If instead of photosynthesis
You all liked meat.
