I have this image of a young girl-woman walking away from a bad home, bad relationship, bad life---something...she's trudging along thru "bad areas" of town & onward...but, nothing seems worse than what she's been through. She doesn't know when she'll stop walking. She figures that she'll know when she gets there.

One lonely girl
Wanders a foreign land
Unsure of where she's going
But escaping her past

Footsteps heavy
As if in a dream
Eyes dull & empty
Nothing left to believe

Dirty old storefronts
Lurking dark strangers
She passes them by
No fear of the dangers

She trudges on
Like a sad sleepwalker
Lost in her dread
No hope can be offered

Unsure of where she's going
But she'll know when she's there
She'll have escaped hell
And her living nightmare.
