Some people feel that they can do or say anything to us. Sometimes we feel trapped in the relationship with them ---they are our parents, siblings, other family, and sometimes our friends, spouses, children,... They are relationships that aren't so easy to just walk away from. We feel trapped between our desire to be loved by them and the reality of how they truly treat us. TELL ME IF YOU CAN RELATE?

Your words tear into me
Like a knife into a scab
Tearing open old wounds
Your words-- they cut, they stab

You smile and then you laugh
That sick smirk on your face
My spirit paralyzed
Helpless -- yours to deface

Your words tear into me
Like a sword through my heart
Turning, twisting, plunged deep
Your words rip me apart

Born to be your target
An outlet for your rage
I'm trapped here before you
My soul, my spirit caged

Peel and splay me open
I'll tell you what you'd see
A child of God left sobbing
A soul scarred beyond belief
