To children upon their challenges and experiences.

As you go forth to meet the challenges and interesting experiences, you will want to set up some definite guidepost to lead you safely to your objectives. There are things in life that change and are flexible which shift with every wind that blows, and there are certain basic principles that remain firm and true. These I submit to you as anchors to which you may tie yourself and which will sustain you in any of life’s storms.

FAITH* Nothing is greater that faith. You must believe in yourself before others will believe in you. Yes faith will move mountains today as it did three thousands years ago. You need but to believe and work with your belief. No magic words will do the miracle, but a bulldozer might. Faith is not idle waiting. It is action with conviction and courage. Nothing is impossible for you to accomplish if your mind can imagine it, and if you will work and believe in what you are doing.

TRUTH* All real knowledge is based on truth. Try to always know what is true, and hold to it with dogged determination. It can never be destroyed though beaten down, twisted and suppressed; it will always rise and be heard. It is the twin sister to HONESTY and they are inseparable. Try always to be as inseparable from them as they are from each other.

LOVE* The love of ones fellowman is secondly only to the love ofGod. We all have our imperfections and life is so difficult at times that we hardly know where wrong stops and right begins. But we have built in each of us a sort of radar system which fore warns us. We call it our conscience. This is God within us all.

PATIENCE* Patience built the pyramids on Egypt’s plains: it cut the forest trees of a now world and raised in their place a community of States and Nations. It has been the key to progress. Don’t be an eager beaver: sit still when you have done all you know to do in the right direction and be patient. The results will come.

KNOWLEDGE* TRY TO KNOW, and what you do know, know thoroughly. Pure knowledge is of little value unless applied to some useful purpose. Dignify your knowledge with the wise use of it to the betterment of yourself and those about you. This is real education and real culture.

FINALLY* Be devoted one to the other in the real spirit of love and family ties. Keep each other encouraged by keeping in touch through writing. Share your problems, your joys, your moments of happiness, your disappointments and your triumphs with each other. Let nothing ever come between you. Remember, you can never have any problem that you cannot share with those who love you. Know that you will have sympathy, understanding and help. Be temperate in all things, in dress, in habit, in spending, in social life and in all your relationships. Don’t over do it. Take it easy and, above all. . . .

TRUST IN GOD AND PRAY ALWAYS. MAY PEACE OF MIND, HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS CROWN ALL YOUR EFFORTS AND KEEP YOU SAFE THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE, AS YOU WORK TOWARD YOUR OBJECTIVES TO BECOME A USEFUL CHRISTIAN CITIZEN OF A GREAT WORLD.
