You twist andtwirl in transit
Crawling higher into clouds
Taking me where dreams sprout.
Atop wind swept plateau’s bosom
Laid broad and bent in passage
Akin to crooked masquerade’s dance
Belying strength to mock bravery
Becoming the ferryboat to carry
Burdens bearing brunt of time’s passage
Where the old and new converge
To pay homage at ancient crossroads
Ahead where toddlers footsteps falters
In pat, tap of the unlearned
You spread to become fabled Obodo
Where ancestors gathered ages past
Where bare footed we stand supplicating
Heeding their disemboweled voices
You move on transverse my home’s length
Giving ever growing wander lust, wings
Groaning not under weary farmer’s trudges
Forever coming and going from afar ridges
Come splatter platter of summer rains
And howling shriek of the wintry winds
You remain constant, herald to the unborn
A covenant to our tomorrow
The artery that feeds our needs
