Michael J. "Little Joe" Napolitano (1933-1978) was a member of the Patriarca Crime Family. Napolitano was born in 1933 but other sources have him being born in 1943. Napolitano was the son of Orlando "Mickey Naples" Napolitano (1916-1990) who was also a member of the Patriarca Crime Family. Napolitano was apart of the Portland, Maine crew and was heavily involved in counterfeiting. In September of 1978 Napolitano and another reputed mob member named John "Big John" Jannoni who were both wanted in Massachusetts on charges of counterfeiting $3.3 million were found shot to death in New York City. Their bodies were wrapped in plastic bags and stuffed in the trunk of a car. Detectives called the slaying a gangland-style execution Each had been shot in the head three times with a handgun at close range. The reason for their murders is unknown but Massachusetts Suffolk County Superior Court said Napolitano had been working as a government informer.
