The Innocent Surprises Of Life.

Written and Edited by Rosalie.

She said, I was seven and you were nine
I looked at you like the stars that shined
In the sky, the pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
Growing up and falling in love and our mamas smiled
And rolled their eyes and said oh my my my

Little Diana Gregory ran across the street to see what was going on. Her long blond hair blew away from her face in the wind. She laughed loudly. She suddenly stopped, but a bit to fast. She almost tripped, but something or someone grabbed her arm before she hit herself.

She looked up at her rescuers face, and smiled.

He had light honeybrown hair and the most amazing blue eys.

"Hi!" she cheerfully said.

The boy looked at that little girl. She had pretty brown eyes.

"I'm Diana." she said.

"I'm Alex." he said. The girl smiled.

"You want to be friends?" she asked with a dazzling smile, that could get even a seven year old boy dazzled.

"Yeah, okay!" he happily said.

Mary Gregory smiled as she met the new neighbour, Ginger Allbright outside their house.

Take me back to the house in the backyard tree
Said you'd beat me up, you were bigger than me
You never did, you never did
Take me back when our world was one block wide
I dared you to kiss me and ran when you tried
Just two kids, you and I...
Oh my my my my

Eightyear old Diana Gregoryran away from ten year old Alexander Allbright, as he tried to catch her. She jumped over the fence around their house, and ran giggling to the old tree in the bacyard.

"I'm gonna hit you!" Alex said. He held up his hands in fists, but when he saw Diana's smiling face, he knew he couldn't. She laughed, because she was aware of this.

"You're not. You'll never get yourself to hit me." she said. He looked at her, smiling. Diana still thought his eyes were amazing. It was like many pretty lights.

He looked down at his feet.

"You're right." he mumbled and blushed.

"Wanna play dare?" she asked. He smiled and looked up at her pretty face.

"Okay." he said. "I dare you to climb up there." he said, and pointed at one of the thick branches on the tree.

She laughed, and began to climb.

When she sat safely on the branch, she said: "You too!"

Alex laughed, and climbed up to her. He satd down next to her, and she smiled.

"I dare you to kiss me." she said. At first he looked shoked. Then, he slowly leaned in, closer, closer ...

But just before he could kiss her, she jumped off the branch and ran away, giggling wildly.

Alex smiled.

Well, I was sixteen when suddenly
I wasn't that little girl you used to see
But your eyes still shined like pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
They never believed we'd really fall in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said oh my my my...

Sixteen year old Diana Gregory was crying in the backyard. She promised herself that she would never go to that school again. Not after what Polly Polkiss did to her. Diana's date was Jason Shepard, and she was exstatic because she liked hm. She also hoped to become prom queen with him. But Polly did. And she kissed him. And he kissed her back ...

Diana was still wearing her blue prom dress. She cried all over it, and didn't care if it got ruined as she climbed up to that same old branch where she used to sit together with Alex.

Suddenly she heard someone say her name.

"Diana?" a soft voice asked. She looked up.

"Y-yes?" she sobbed.

She saw Alex, climbing up to sit next to her.

"What's wrong?" he softly asked, as he wrapped his arms aroud her. It fely nice and safe here in his arms.

She told him about the dance, and he just hugged her tighter.

"That jerk." he hissed. "How dare he hurt you like that? I'm gonna ..." but she put a hand on his arm.

"It could've been worse." she said.

"I guess." he said. "But still, how could he let you down? You loso beautiful."

She blushed at the compliment.

Suddenly she felt his hand on her cheek. He turned her face towards him so they were now facing eachother.

"You really are beautiful." he mumbled. Diana's heart skipped a beat, as he slwly leaned closer. But this time she didn't run away ...

Mary Gregory smiled as she saw this.

Take me back to the creek beds we turned up
Two A.M. riding in your truck and all I need is you next to me
Take me back to the time we had our very first fight
The slamming of doors instead of kissing goodnight
You stayed outside till the morning light
Oh my my my my

"No! It's not the same!!!" seventeen year old Diana Gregory yelled to her boyfriend, Alex Allbright.

"Please, Diana! I didn't mean to ..."

"Why the hell, Alex? It's been a year! I didn't even care about Jason Shepard! I don't care if he wins even a million!" she screamed.

"Diana ..." he begged.

"Fuck off!" she yelled, and slammed the door.

But Alex was dtermed. He would not let her go. He went into his truck and waited. He waited for hours, until he eventually fell asleep.

Diana looked outside in the dawn, and gasped in shock. There it was. Alex' truck! She ran outside, and opened the truck door.

He was fast asleep.

"Alex?" she softly murmured into his ear.

"Mm ..." he slowly tured his head towards her. "Diana!" he gasped when he saw he. "Diana I really didn't mean to freak out like that ..."

"Shut up." she whispered, and kissed him softly.

A few years had gone and come around
We were sitting at our favorite spot in town
And you looked at me, got down on one knee

Take me back to the time when we walked down the aisle
Our whole town came and our mamas cried
You said I do and I did too
Take me home where we met so many years before
We'll rock our babies on that very front porch
After all this time, you and I

Twenty-one year old Diana Gregory walked down the aisle towards Alex Allbright. His eyes sparkled, and she remembered the say she first saw him, when she first met his beautiful blue eyes.

Alex had never felt happier then now, watching as she slowly walked towards him. Her long blond hair flowed beautifully down her back, and the white dress was so beautiful on her.

He smiled s he said "I do."

Mary smiled at Ginger. They were both crying.

She almost burst out laughing of pure joy, as she said "I do."

After a year, Alex was leading her up to the white house. The same house where he had threatened to beat her up. They laughed at the memory.

Diana took a hand to her round stomach. She was carrying twins.

They walked out to the backyard. She smiled as she saw that same old tree.

"Alex." she said.

"Yes sweetheart?" he asked.

"I dare you to kiss me." she said, and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Mm, this game isn't that bad after all." he murmured, before their lips met.

I'll be eighty-seven; you'll be eighty-nine
I'll still look at you like the stars that shine
In the sky, oh my my my...

Luanne was in New York, working as a doctor. Roger and Joshwere in Europe travelling, and Emma lived just across the dtreet with her family.

Alex and Diana smiled, as they thought about their kids.

He looked at her. Her brown eyes were just as pretty as the first day he saw her.

She looked at him, his eyes still shone like pretty lights.

And Mary and Ginger must be rolling their eyes in their graves ...

Dedicated to Bella and Daman. Thanks for finally being together, it was in bloody time!
