WORDS OF FIRE

Words of fire

Hot as the blade of a knife

Cut straight to the heart

A raging storm of fire

Burning down my walls

Words of fire

Echoing all through my life

Belittled.

I have fallen

Cut down by one more cruel phrase

I try to stand up

Stand strong

Still the words crash in

They know their mark

They know how to scar.

Wounded.

By the look of rage in your eye

Hell hath no fury

Like the words you hurl at me

A well hidden anger, disguised as a careless remark

Smoke, then fire

I'm singed, burnt, hanging on the pyre.

Wasted at the Crossroads.

What do you see?

One more emotional train wreck

One more beautiful disaster

You think you made of me?

So very convinced

That I'll never reach any higher

Thinking forever will I be

Tamed and mesmerized by the flames of a liar.

Words of Fire.

If you don't mind, they'll never matter

If I believe

It was all a slip in the heat of the moment

Then I won't feel

The little burning barbs of endless chatter.

But I believe in the magician's trick

At one slight of hand

And there you stand

Alone.

With no one left to blame

A break of light in the dark

And your same words become your burning shame.
