After three strikes you're out

Right when I could win this bout

Something off catches my eye

Hands around another guy

You were the third and final one

Hair the color of a new sun

Eyes of a heaven;y shade

Oh how from logic they'd make me fade

Of course we weren't exactly a pair

But you and I would see each other everywhere

At last it seemed to be

From this shadow I'd finally be free

So there that night I went to the play

And of course a pair comes across my way

You dared not even meet my eyes

Your shame buried and in disguise

I could see it happen not even in a dream

This was my dying day's final sun beam

Where the sun gives in to the night of no stars

Just me, myself, and I in an empty car

Staring down the blackened road

Back to our humble abode

From that theatre I'm glad I left

My last piece of faith cleft

There wasn't just actors on that stage

So here I go turn the page

Wracked by neither anger or grief

It seems you were the perfect thief

I only have pity for this guy

Before you steal his moon, sun, and sky

For in this areana there should only be one contender

Instead you play us for the prize of a pretender
