This story really happened, the storm and the sunflower all. The message came to me in a flash...of lightning ;] I write to please myself.

A flash of lightning, bang!

Then a thunderclap came.

And on the radio,

We heard of a tornado.

If it came close by,

We'd have no place to hide.

I went into my room,

Hiding from the gloom,

Lightning streaked by,

Something caught my eye,

It wasn't the storms power,

It was a little sunflower.

Its head was lifted high,

Right into the sky,

Though the storm was very long,

The flower stood up strong.

When the storm was finally done,

And the sun had finally come,

I was glad to see,

The flower standing,

But on its own,

It was leaning on a pole.

And I immediately knew,

That’s what God intended to do.

We were meant to lean on him,

Even when it seemed the storm would win,

He would get us through,

And all we had to do,

Was trust and obey,

That Jesus is the way,

And He will give us power,

Just like that sunflower.
