Joy attracts ridicule, pain attracts more,

Suffering makes people walk out the door.

They walk and they walk, aimlessly,

People like you, people like me.

People who just want the sadness to stop,

People for once want to feel on top.

They want to be the ones with the power,

To not be the ones who always cower.

They'd rather look at us and leer,

Than live in constant social fear.

They want to be cheered for for their success,

To be cheerful, prideful, like the rest.

To be accepted as one charming and witty,

Rather than left to bathe in self pity.

Their own sorrow their only friend,

While others ridicule them to no end.

They begin to think very volatile things,

In destructive fear of what the next day brings.

Rain or shine, they must go out,

The storm awaits, though no clouds are about.

They want to be like us, yet such is their hate,

Their frequented wish is for life to abate.
