regrets drift down like soft clean snow

it weighs heavily in my soul

refraining me

a punishment I cannot reverse

a tingling in my spine

an itching between my shoulder blades

they wait to be swept free

even if they carry shades of grey

they are apart of me

they say that time heals everything

but it can't fix broken wings

even though I have all the time I need

my heart still weeps and bleeds

regret is like poison racing through the veins

it destroys you

makes it so you cannot fly again

if you had to choose today

between living and loving

what would you say?

even if your choice cost you everything

I fell from the light

I made my choice

and I lost the fight

Lead an honest life

and keep love in your sights

I lost my way

so I lost my flight

blood slides down to the tip of my wing

it glistens in the light

it reminds me of the pain

ashamed and disgraced by my broken state

I turn my back to the light

and mourn my fate

tongue thick and useless

I have become mute

I cry in silence

my agony is absolute

I listen for music

and hunger for my songs

my sorrow hits me hard

I finally see my wrongs

lifted up in a warm embrace

I am accepted back

within I had repented for my sins

so that in my heart, a voice finally whispered

that I am forgiven
