Death Potatoes

We have all heard of the humble potato. There are many breeds of potato; there’s roast potato, mashed potato, jacket potato. But not many people have heard of, or even acknowledged the existence of the death potatoes. These abominations live in the heart of Peru, guarded by a nine headed dragon that went by the name of scaly. Scaly was over 60,000 years old, each one of these miserable years spent guarding the potatoes of death.

Now these potatoes were not called death potatoes for nothing. The first people to experience the killer instinct of these root vegetables were the Irish, during the potato famine. Many people thought it was potato blight that caused the starvation, when in actual fact; the Irish had accidentally mixed potato seeds with scorpion eggs. Thereby creating a death potato, these proceeded to murder their kinder, more edible cousins with pitchforks and torches (miniaturised, of course.)

The RSPCP ( Royal Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Potatoes) later went around catching the death potatoes with very big nets and tranquilizer guns, and deported them to Peru. They now sit around eating dirt and beetles, with the hope of the government that one day they will die out by eating themselves. For now, Scaly lives a miserable life, and probably will for many more thousands of years.

The End
