My Dream, My Lie

I once lived a life of solitude

I bothered no one,

No one bothered me

My heart was hardened

Impenetrable fortress of steel

Words never hurt me

Rejection did not sting me

I felt no pain, no misery

I felt no joy, no satisfaction

I breathed but was not alive

Then I met her, she was different

With but a word she shattered my walls

She brought to me great joys

With this joy came much pain

It was odd… to feel alive

She waited until I was completely open

The attack came without a warning

She destroyed the trust I’d begun to know

Now I lay in this battlefield of corpses

The numbing feeling coming once more

Laughing, shaking his head

Telling me, “hate to say I told you so”

I made a mistake

Turned a blind eye to reason

Now it’s time to rebuild my walls

It’s time to hide in my fortress

I know I’ll be missing on so much good

I remember how I felt so alive

It was a nice little dream, a nice little lie

Now I go where my true destiny lies

Now I close the doors once again

So goodbye sweet world, you were a good friend

Now no one shall bother me,

Now I shall bother no one

I live a life of solitude
