Summary

I seem to think about death a lot because I'm very curious as to what happens in the afterlife. I know that there are other teens of my age or younger/older who are so quick to grow up, whereas; I am not. I want to treasure the time that I have and I do...

Waiting for the Death Sentence
The old man
with the silver threads of hair
sits on the bench
waiting for his days to end.

The old man
has lived eighty-five
miserable years
and can't wait for them
to come to an end.

The old man
waits with his fedora
in lap and
mouth kept quiet.

The old man
watches the young generation
smile and laugh
going about their fresh days.

The sun clocks out
and the moon clocks in.

The old man
is still sitting there
in the cold night
just waiting.

The old man
had a dream that night
on the bench that he sits.

The old man
was told by an Angel
that it was not his time.

The old man
woke up in the morning rays
and walks home
lonely and quiet.
