As a child he was told
"Given some paper, draw the scariest monster."
What a lot of work
but still the young child drew and drew
and then he was finished.

It was a red color
a fuzzy glow
and a set of baring white fangs
It had three tongues
a pair of claws
yellow narrow eyes
a thousand of them
Its hands were large
its feet were small
its head was huge
its fur was dirty
it had five noses
it had blue nails
it wore a hat
it looked mad
it looked insane

It won the blue ribbon.

As a man the boy turned into
he rediscovered the drawing.

As a man
he knew it wasn't

the scariest monster ever.

And so
he redrew it
just for fun.

But fun the results were not.

Yes the result was true to him then
but it saddened him.

He was a man, an adult
he knew this was the truth

He wasn't playing hide and seek or tag anymore.

The monster was a billion times more scary
than what he drew before

the monster was more deadly
more cruel

more vicious.

Yes indeed, the monster was actually this time REAL.

The monster he drew

the vicious creature

it was a human

looking straight into a mirror.
