If you haven't read Percy Jackson yet, I don't understand you.

I first read Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief when I was ten years old. I remember my sister passing me her miniature phone, slightly nudging me to read the words written on the screen.

I also remember not being able to comprehend anything

Honestly, I wasn't surprised.

Not even a slightest

As I shamelessly kept on reading the book from the beginning every year, I began to understand the twisted minds of the characters, the sardonic Mr.D, the typical middle grade jokes and the story narrated by our infamous protagonist, Percy Jackson. And every time, I was astonished by the ending (partly because I was plainly fascinated and partly because I'm such a dramatic wreck)

Percy Jackson is just like any ordinary kid. He plays the basketball, does skateboarding, have friends and possesses the mutual aversion for school.

Yeah, extremely normal.

However, his past isn't a common one like us mortals.

Of course his mom, Sally Jackson is a mortal but it isn't the same for his dad.

Percy soon finds himself in the midst of strangers in Camp Half Blood in Long Island, NY.

He later finds out that his father is the Greek Sea God and he is a demigod (naah, this ain't a spoiler)

Zues is a mad God. Moreover, he loves to blame people for no reason whatsoever. And when his lightening bolt vanishes from his room, he instantly blames Percy

Zues in the corner be like: Aha Perseus Jackson! I got you!

?(For those of you who utterly lack the knowledge of Greek Mythology, Zeus and Poseidon hate each other even if they're brothers)

Percy gets blamed for stealing the lightening bolt faster than a five year old kid getting attracted by a chocolate bar in a candy store.

Percy sets off to a quest to save his mother and also to clear his name with his friends Annabeth and Grover.

In his quest, he goes to west and meets Snake head Medusa and other creepy demons.

The good things about this book?

1.It has an amazing starting

"Look, I didn't want to be a half blood.
If you're reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is: close this book right now. Believe whatever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth and try to lead a normal life. Being a half blood is dangerous. It's scary. Most of the time, it gets you killed in painful, nasty ways. If you're a normal kid, reading this because its fiction. Great. Read on. I envy you for being able to believe that none of this ever happened.
But if you recognize yourself in these pages---if you feel something stirring inside---stop reading immediately. You might be one of us and once you know that, it'll only be a matter of time before they sense it too and they'll come for you. Don't say I didn't warn you."

And I didn't open the book and wrote the lines. I have it memorised (*gives a slow clap to herself for ardent dedication )

You wouldn't want to refuse a book with an opening like that.

Trust me, you wouldn't.

2. Uncle Rick made flawed characters.

The characters are not good at everything, they try their best but they're not always such perfectionists. They are not always glorified, neither they have exaggerating stories about themselves. That makes them real

3. Every character is given a bold voice and a strong background. The story doesn't evolve just around Percy; it also untangles the mysteries of the other characters. As you continue to read the other books in the pantology, you'll understand each character more better.

4. It is relatable and hilarious

?Once you understand this book (which I assume you will because not everyone is dumb as I am) you'll laugh at everything. Even when the characters are being dead serious. You'll just laugh. That's the power of Rick Riordan, he always manages to be hilarious and sarcastic.

There are maybe a thousand more reasons why people adore the Percy Jackson Series but the simple answer is this: I love Percy Jackson Series because I just do.

Hi , just thought i would come check out your book review. Unfortunately i havent read the Percy Jackson boots but i was thinking that you should write more about what you like for example if they wrote about the lighting of a room how it made you feel etc things you didnt like perhaps a character was being too selfish and it put you off or the way they went around a plan. You wrote about thats its relateable and hilarious go into what you mean by that. What made is relatable and hilarious? You could also write a section for if you were the writer what would you change. Write a review so that some one like me who has never read the book can think oh that looks interesting i want to go buy it. ~Anniebirnie~

Hiya, friend! I haven’t read the Percy Jackson books yet; I tend to stick to older literature, but upon reading this review, I must say it has piqued my interest. honestly, I was very skeptical because of all the mixed feelings readers have for it, and not to mention how I lost any faith in trusting Californian millennials’ version of a “good book” (lol). Anyways, this was a well-written review that I can tell is honest, so good work! :)

(ps, welcome to Booksie! :))

Hello. I have read the Lightening Thift as a grown up. It did not bore me at all. In the contrary I throughly enjoyed it, I read it in one or two go. I read it as one of my early English novels the bookstore clerk suggested me to read. I am an Asian, reading English wasn't as easy then as now for me. I went to bookstore and went to teens section as suggested, and the first book that attracted me was Percy Jackson! Of couse, I also watched the movie for it. Unfortunately, I didn't read the rest, as I passed on to read some Classic or heavier ones. But if you plan to write all the reviews for this series, I would certainly read them and maybe one day o will go back to pick up the books and read them all. Nice review! And thank you for inviting me to your page. Welcome to Booksie.

Hey, I saw your quickee on my profile and I figured I'd check out what you've written. Nice review, by the way. I've read the whole series, half of Heroes of Olympus, and the first Magnus Chase and Kane Chronicles books, as well as a few bonus books. I know that seems pretty scattered and "out of order", but that's mainly because I lost steam after a while. And even after moving on to different types of books (I mainly read police procedurals and Stephen King now), I still hold an admiration for the Percy Jackson series, especially considering the effect it has had on so many other people.

I'll be uploading chapters of one of my recent books, Harbinger, soon, and I'd appreciate if you would give the first chapter a look. It's not up yet, but I've already finished the whole thing and I just have to tediously upload each chapter.

Anyways, have a good day. ;)

Clap* Clap* Clap* Wow! that's real dedication o the book, I haven't read it myself but I've watched the movie and it was thrilling and humourous and I think my favourite part was when the goat guy was dancing in the club. Haha if you haven't seen it I really recommend it.

You should read the book! It's funnier than the movie. I've watched the movie and I think that dancing in the club scene is funny

I love the Lightning thief. I have read the first five times and I have a copy of the first book of that series and two other series' book one's. It has about 1,3000 pages long and I read it in 5 days. I'm an avid reader that loves series like Twilight, Harry Potter, Mortal Instruments, and Percy Jackson. I'm also an aspiring author that is working on a book called Chronicles of an Assassin: Hidden. Obv. it is a series called Chronicles of an Assassin. The next and final book called Chronicles of an Assassin: Code with be released soon.

I will be eventually making (and publishing on this site) book series' called Afterlife and New Age of Assassins.

The book in these series' are as follows: Afterlife; Life After Death, Afterlife; Reborn, Afterlife; Renegades, Afterlife; Fall of the Hidden, Afterlife; End of Assassins, Afterlife; Death of an Enemy, New Age of Assassins; Son of an Assassin, New Age of Assassins; Daughter of an Assassin, New Age of Assassins; Rise of an Enemy, New Age of Assassins; Death of an Angel, New Age of Assassins; Revenge?, and finally, New Age of Assassins; Death of an Assassin.

I have done the first two chapters of Chronicles of an Assassin: Hidden and think you should check it out. Chapter 3 coming later this week. Thanks!

Hi!
Shame on me, but I didn't even know there were books on Percy Jackson.. So, I haven't read it, but I watched a movie. If I remember right, there are two movies actually. I'm really into fiction genre so I found this movie quite entertaining.

What did you like//dislike the most?

I liked everything about this series! Starting from the middle grade jokes, the characters and their sarcasm to even the villans. The movie is NOT good at all (as compared to the book) so you should give it a read. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
