A girl is living in Poverty, severely malnourished with her mother getting worse and worse. This is my attempt at writing a story in a poem... hope you like it.

The drought suffocating our chances

Our crops endlessly refusing to grow

Waking at dawn, working till dusk

Life beyond suffering will we ever know?

My ribs clearly exposed from starvation

Every step is a struggle to survive

Wishing for an end to this torture

Why are we still here, alive?

Starvation claims countless bodies

My own mother, in the clutch of death

The liveliness sucked from within

Coughing, unable to draw a breath.
