Alone, you lay, on the hospital ward

Footsteps echoing down the cold, green corridor

Your words constantly rebounding

Off the chipped and broken paint

The memories of a long gone time

Play on the roof and walls

Of this incarcerating illness

Slowly stealing the sunlight away

Oh selfless you, gave so much time

So much of yourself to others

But here you lay, in a cold, sandless bay

With ne'er a soul to visit you

Alone, lost and forgotten

My medicated, fragile friend

I'd like to Thankyou for your gift

I Thankyou for your time

Your death clock sounds the loudest

When ticking in your dreams

Hospital blankets, to smother the chills

But never silence the screams

At last, my Friend, it's over

I'll release and let you go

With the knowledge that you're better off

In that other place.....Please go
