“When she was just a girl, she expected the world”. As I was listening to these words of the song in my headphones and watching the beautiful view of the sky from the plane’s window, I started to remember. A million flashbacks run through my mind. I remembered her , It was her favorite song…God, I can’t believe  It’s been 10 years since we have seen each other..! I started to go back in time and my mind started working as a time machine shuffling the memories… The first memory that came to my mind and took me away as if am really going back in time was when I first saw her. She was standing alone at one of our college corners. She seemed helpless, kind and innocent. I figured I should talk to her, maybe she doesn’t know anyone here. And it turned to be right. I asked her about her name and she told me “I’m Emma”. I smiled and told her,” Great then you are with me in the same group”, and we started to chat a little bit. She told me that she went to this college by total coincidence. My first Impression about her was that she is so kind and cute, that makes you trust her at the first sight. Suddenly I felt that the “Time Machine” in my head is taking me to another place, and this time it led me to another memory. When we went together to that gorgeous place at the beach, it was an unforgettable day despite how simple it was, how childish our acts were. Still, the memory of the first memory we took together stuck in my head. That day I knew she is going to be my best friend forever. Again, the time machine is shuffling memories, and this time it led me to one more special memory, when she got her first nephew. She called to tell me she is an aunt, and how great it feels. When she sent me her picture with the baby, I smiled as I saw a big baby holding a small one. The Memories shuffle once more, and this time it took me to the most special one 10 years ago. I flew back to the time I was at the airport, and I was so afraid of leaving to another country, not knowing what I will face, although I was pursing my dream of being a college professor. The last thing she told me before I go was,” Don’t be afraid, I know you will do great, and always remember:  it’s Memories that keep us Alive”. Then suddenly, I came back to the real world as I felt a slight change of the plane’s movement. The pilot said “Welcome home, everybody”. I stepped out of the airport, and the warmth of home instantly entered my heart. As I was going out of the arriving hall, I saw this young beautiful girl running into me. I thought she is just playing, but I was shocked when she said, “Hello Lilly”! I asked her kindly who she is. She said her name was Lilly as well, and pointed out to her mom. When I looked to where she pointed, she was my best friend! I can’t believe she named her daughter after me. Ten years passed, and here she is, waiting for me. I ran to her and gave her a hug like it was first time to hug someone in my life. Then she said, “Remember what I told you ten years ago, It’s Memories that keep us alive”!
