Mirrors were made to watch us fall
A lot of things can bring a girl's self-esteem down. But none more so than her own mirror.
It shows nothing but the harsh truth. The truth that no matter what you do, you can't change what there is.
Everyday, it silently laughs, mocks and scorns as you hopelessly try to stop it.
It turns your own reflection against you. Uses it as a pawn to show you what it sees. Uses it to show you what you don't want to see.
But does it care?
This cold, hard surface enjoys watching you suffer, squirm under its cruel gaze, and become a lifeless shell of what you were.
It taunts a you, makes you yearn for change, holds it in front of you like a carrot before a rabbit.
Finally, driven mad, you break the mirror in hopes of escape. But the broken shards fly and bury deep within your skin, to forever remind you that you will never be allowed to escape.
People say that if you break a mirror, you'll have 7 years of bad luck. But what they don't know, is as long as there is reflection in the world, whether it be from our mirrors or the eyes of someone else, we'll have a lifetime of insecurity.
