The gems are glistening

Vibrant, perfectly cut, and colorful

To some, what I hold is a prize

To others, a sign of authority,

But to me, it is worthless.

Forged with hours of deliberation

To no end other than to glorify

An already glorified position

The King! They cry,

He is next to God!

But I feel closer to the dirt

Than I do to my subjects.

Adorned, I am respected and feared

Cast aside, I am no different

Than those that serve me.

Such vanity grasps my people

That it is no longer I who rules them

But what rests upon my head.
