Silence is my only friend.

Silence accompanies me to the end.

Though my friend brings along a few other parts.

Sadness, loneliness, and a longing heart.

But I cannot leave my only friend.

He embraces me with those arms of dread.

He holds my heart, and keeps it dead.

To protect me from the pain of loss.

From the game they play, those beautiful, deceitful, Sirens.

Who use their eyes,

As their disguise.

And take hold of my heart

And banish my friend.

Then squeeze, and crush, and scare my most precious organ.

And behind their eyes,

I can see they despise.

As they flutter of into the night.

And leave me to my endless flight.

It is there that he waits valiantly.

To once again embrace me.

To protect me from those merciless Sirens.

My friend.

Silence.
