I want to reveal the true me.

To tear off this mask, and finally be free.

But my mask is what keeps me safe.

And it is hard to part with that trait.

How can you be hurt if you lack emotion?

How can you be rejected if you show no interests?

Who can hate you if you say and do nothing?

Who can love you if you say and do nothing?

With that, so the downsides begin.

With no emotion; who can you possibly win?

With no interests; what friends can you make?

So does this mask truly keep me safe?

Or does it, in fact, turn me into a ghost?

Invisible to all, and loved by none.

As though I am the only one.

This mask holds me down.

It is strapped to me by chains and a weight.

I have to break free.

Before it is too late.

To show my real face would be a risk.

But can this risk I possibly miss?

Will I ever be free?

Will I ever break from these shackles that restrain me?

Will I ever reveal the real me?

Or will I haunt as a ghost the shadows for life?

I suppose that is up to no one…

But me.
