I give up
What's the point
There's no audience
No stage manager
The actors have quit
There's only my empty words
That are drowned in
A sea of static voices
Why would mine be different
Why would I be good enough
to be heard?

What have I done
To deserve people
Who read what I write
Where are my credentials
Or references
I have no past experience
I don't qualify to be selected.

These notes might flow
Right off my page
But the lines are twisted
With the lyrics perverse
and the singers' throat
Has been torn out
She looks blankly
Silently singing this unknown song.

Yet I still write
I give myself false hope
I pick at this scab
Convincing myself I'll make it
At the same time I
Prepare for the fall.
