It doesn't have to carry

a knife or a gun.

It's a momentary joy

and not always fun.

It leaves you inn misery,

that has no end,

don't be fooled

into thinking it's your friend.

Your wife, kids, and work,

you will soon have to juggle,

it doesn't care

how much you struggle.

The future it holds,

you're not meant to see;

it's cold, and it's selfish,

it says, "You will love only me."

It will make you angry,

until your blood wants to boil,

but, like everyone else,

to it, you will surely be loyal.

This long, lonely road,

it seems, it never ends,

you gave up your family,

and turned your back on your friends.

It steals the love from your heart,

and the life from your eyes,

It wants only one thing,

and thats your demise.

It leaves you in trouble,

with your life full of friction.

It says, "I am your God,

my name is addiction."
