My first piece of poetry in a long time. Please feel free to point out mistakes or tweaks i could make so I can change it. It is a little piece about my feelings that i have been feeling recently due to something that happened not so long ago.

A Boy Alone

There is a boy that I used to know,

That is not afraid, but is alone;

He is cursed with emptiness,

That few ever feel,

Because of his ever-going loneliness.

He wishes for family and comfort,

But instead is riddled with hurt;

He hardly slept,

But never wept;

And keeps his feelings to himself in his fort.

His Fort, His Home is hell,

A prison which his thoughts destroy every hope and dream;

Is this right that a boy so rare,

Has no rights, no welfare;

And to survive all his possessions he must sell.

That boy was me,

I had to learn, nothing is free;

No help, no pity did I ask,

In this nightmare that is still not in the past;

I soon had nothing yet there is always some sort of fee.

From my problems I ran,

And to this day I regret this,

Because it took me so long to realize,

That facing my problems, my fear,

I could become a man.

I am not special,

I am no lost cause;

If only I was shown,

Some love in my hell,

Just maybe I wouldn’t feel so alone.
