I know that once I was a little girl

can you see her, when you glance impetuously my way

or are my eyes too sunken, with a depth now empty

for you to ever feel this way

I know that once I was a little girl

carelessly carressing dreams with assurance

petals of wild flowers crushed in the palm of tiny fists

I left not one stem in this valley where the sun dances, and the birds sing

does the perfumed scent from these petals ever drift your way?

when you glance for just a second, and I; for just a second, send you a small wave

or perhaps the essence of failure forces you to turn too soon

Bounded to your blindness you turn away

I know that once I was a little girl

my skin now scarred, with every feat an identifying wound

once was blameless, innocent and smooth

can you feel this when your flesh brushes against my own

is there a response in the physical sensation called a touch

or rather you pull away from the chill of something so cold

you pull away with out conscenting to the faint echo of what had been

you don't seem to know, as I know that once I was a little girl
