The Living Light

The sun may rise but life is dark

Living in the shadow of a broken heart.

Nothing is peace, nothing is joy.

Every time I smile, it's just a ploy.

I can't help but think, what if I weren't here?

Do I even want to live for another year?

Each day is pointless in this living hell.

So take me now; I'd be just as well.

I walk through the cave in this endless night.

Scared of the dark, but it's left and right.

I feel myself cry because I can see

That there's nothing good in this world for me.

One day I felt I was close to the end,

But I suddenly saw a light peek around the bend.

I resisted its presence as I fought and fought.

Fought hope, what had been such a distant thought.

Then a force brought me to my knees

And made the light appear brighter than could be.

A figure appeared, but who was he?

Could it be Jesus Christ who died for me?

Though I put myself in that cave,

It was me and all others he came to save.

A love so sad, A love so true.

A love that was meant for me and you.

This hate I saw, the pattern to which I conformed,

This was the reason I was so forlorn.

And now that love has surely arrived,

There is no doubt hate will not survive.

For light has come and darkness is no more,

And one day, maybe, there will cease to be war.

Leave the darkness and you too will see

All that a Lighter world can be!

Who will be strong and stand with me?
