.

Windswept

Windswept as I sing

About a sunset once described to me

About golden hues and soft rays of light

That brought warmth to her skin

On the last day of summer

The soft colors of amber and yellow clouds

A sunset I never saw, but imagined

Reds and oranges like silk shadows and light

On her face she told me of

The last time I saw her

How I wished I had been there

In the twilight garden of that night

For to know her as I would have liked

Slipped through my fingers in her glance

Those rays of light fading through my grasp

I could have loved that sunset

In the sky above the range

Had I seen it…

Gone now the memory of that description

Lost, carried away by the moments of time
