The loss of a loved one

In a moment the world became very silent. An indescribable change occurred. Everything stood still and change came upon us.

There was noise but it wasn’t as sweet, there was laughter but not within earshot. The air thickened and breathing wasn’t so natural anymore. Things stood still, conversation stopped making sense and moving was not an option. And then without warning the reality was quickly, forcefully delivered straight to our hearts. There was nothing about it that was invited. No one gave it permission or granted its course of action.

It just came, and we just stopped.
No one was ready, no one was willing and worse, no one had a choice. It was there and we were defeated.
With this realization we took a step back, a deep breath and reached out for a ledge to hold onto in hopes we could remain on our feet. And although on our feet, our regular pace no longer existed. Although we had no choice, we were reluctant to move.Although we had no say, we were reluctant to accept. Although we became numb, we were reluctant to fall.

Laughter had been taken from the world. Laughter so contagious, so rewarding and so very needed.
An Opinion has been stolen from our lives. An Opinion so strong so invited and so very wanted.
A Presence must now become a memory. A Presence so necessary, so vibrant and so real.

To be thankful for Jack is an understatement. To be a part of his life is an honour. To love him and be love by him is what we will never stop being thankful for.
