An Angel Sleeps Before Me
by: Jessica Tucker
An angel sleeps before me,
with an aura of pure gold.
Her eyes closed, so she cannot see,
what this world does hold.
This beautiful angel, lost her wings,
not so very long ago.
Her hair a light brown, with curly rings,
love fills her heart, there is no empty echo.
As she lays so silently,
in her calm, charming grace,
the world still churns violently,
an unknowing smile on her face.
I sit and watch, amazed,
at an innocense so pure,
existing in a world so crazed,
maybe she is our cure.
All around her, as she quietly sleeps,
wars, poverty, murders, lies, robberies,
cheaters, drugs, and pedophiles roam our streets,
all kinds of abuse, corrupt leaders, adultery, and broken families.
Diseases, Homeless, Terrorists, Racism,
Extinction, Extortion, Cruelty, Mentally Insane,
Discrimination, Global Warming, and Sexism,
She doesn't know the world holds so much pain.
I am somewhat sad, I brought her here,
in a world, that mirrors Hell,
where everyone is controlled by fear,
and evil does more than dwell.
Looking at this angel I cry,
she doesn't know what she's in for,
My job is to protect her, I'll try,
I love her straight to me core.
As the angel opens her eyes,
rolls off of her tummy,
stretches, yawns, then sighs,
she says two words, "Hi Mommy"
