What You Left Behind
by: Jessica Tucker

You don't know what you left behind,
I'm nothing like you'll ever find.
Like the shining light in a stormy sky,
and the wings to help you fly.
Like the warmth in your bed,
a favorite song stuck in your head,
a memory of a passing time,
and the comfort of a nursery rhyme.
Like the pages of favorite story,
and as sweet as a morning glory.
It's just to bad you closed your eyes,
instead of come to a compromise.
I was always the one, to wonder why,
you'd do the things to make me cry.
To myself I make a vow,
you're the one who'll suffer now.
I'm the missing page in your favorite book,
and the dam stopping your brook.
The tree that broke, that you used to climb,
like no money or food at dinnertime.
I'll be the wound that doesn't heal,
or the car with a broken wheel.
You'll realize one day,
that I am the one that got away.
I'll always be in your mind,
and you'll know, that YOU left ME behind.
