lionheart's challenge.. these are my words: knight, chain, wind, night, aquaintance.

ok so i did mention that the words seem like they would make a good story, so i apologize if the length is a little too much.. i just couldn't stop even after i had all the words done. =)

“Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.”

“Solitude is painful when one is young, but delightful when one is more mature.”---Albert Einstein

True darkness clouds my eyes,
This window seduces me to the outside;
The worlds I’ve left wholeheartedly
With solitude as my sole prize.

Was it a dark knight I saw?
When in my sleep I again dreamt
About sunshine and butterflies,
And smiles and there—

He walks towards me steadily
Ruining the flowers in his wake,
A face shadowed, an aura reeking
Of rusted chains and bloodied flesh.

The wind stirs, slightly shivering
As the night passed by in silence,
And he vanishes yet again
When I wake to the troubled sky.

A tower of hate, I built around me
And so darkness became my ally;
Adjusting, my eyes never tire to look
Upon the outside from this window.

There! Why? Am I his?
If not, then why does his darkness
Move me to curiosity?
Try as I may, I could never look away.

Recollection is useless, reminiscence
Brings forth numbing thoughts,
As I slowly recognize the knight—
No other than death’s acquaintance.

Was he indeed coming for me?
When I have done nothing to deserve
Such eternal honour, and unending
Strike upon my solitary soul?

How he came to be in front of me
I could not understand; my tower
Stands strong against any one
Who tries to reach my abode.

‘Come with me and watch’
I would never even acknowledge
The ominous presence that talked,
But I had no choice but to obey.

Choking darkness clouds my eyes,
The window shattered and broken,
He descends, and I follow,
Down to what I have left behind long ago…

One look will be enough for me,
For soon I feel his friend is laughing
Amused at my choice, and I can only
Sigh as the darkness erases all of me.
