Hush, little one, sigh with me,
Come, little one, dance with me…

Does the cold sea suit you?
Or maybe the bitter blizzards will be better?
Show your thoughts as I show you mine,
Although that is all I can ever do.

You could escape and leave all of it behind
But come what may, I shall remain;
To watch you smile, to watch you sigh
Away the pain and lose you mind.

Do I comfort you or do I bother you?
Or would you rather be alone?
I could come with you but I shall not;
The weight you carry is not for me.

You could fall if you are not careful,
But you will surely fail if you are carefree;
I can be a friend if you are not scared
But you might see me only as the fiend.

Will my songs satisfy you?
Or is there more that you heart yearns?
I can tell you won’t answer, but know that
I shall be with you always as you sigh.

Now, hush, little one, sigh with me,
Come, little one, dance with me...
