They now have enemy-absorbing and shape-shifting powers. They can take memories, experiences, biomass and physical forms of enemies through absorption. They can also shape-shift into more specialized forms for attack, defense or sensory enhancement. They are the Protoype.

“Her name is Kierra Roth. She died from multiple shots in the chest.”
“Isn’t this the one that’s the same as the other one that escaped from here?”
“Yes, she is.”
“But she’s only a child. He is twenty-nine. She is only fifteen.”
“I know. This place is really fucked up.”
“Let’s just get this over with.”
“Okay, hand me the four inch blade.”
The second guy reached over and got the blade. He turned and handed it to the first guy. He grabbed it and bent over Kierra. Suddenly, her eyes popped open and she gasped for air.
“Holy shit!” the first guy yelled.
“Let’s get the fuck out of here!” yelled the second guy.
They both ran out and Kierra sat up, clutching her chest.
“Wh…where am I?” she asked out loud.
She jumped off the table. Sirens started going off. She looked up and quickly ran out of the building. When she was outside she ran towards the shadows and hid. When she peered around the corner there was military personal and the two guys. They were talking when suddenly the personal shot the two guys.
“Find her and kill her,” said one of the personal. “We can’t have her loose with the other one. We just can’t risk it.”
Kierra gasped. The guys turned their heads towards her and raised their guns.
“Wait,” she said. “What are you doing?”
“Fire!”
They shot at her and she fell on her knees. She weaklygot back up and looked at herself; her wounds had already healed.
“Keep shooting!”
She looked towards them and ran. She came upon a huge stone fence.
“I have to somehow get over that,” she said to herself.
She began running and jumped. Clearing it perfectly, she landed on the other side.
“Wow, that was easy,” she said while looking back at the fence.
She turned and ran four blocks down a street and turned into an alley. Kierra hid in the shadows and watched as the military passed by. A military personal walked by and entered the alley, searching it.
“Freeze!” he said, spotting Kierra. “Don’t move.”
Kierra stood where she was and looked at him. When he was close enough, he shot her in the head. Kierra fell to the ground.
He turned and spoke into his radio, “The subject has been terminated. I repeat, the subject has been terminated.”
He turned back towards Kierra and she was gone.
“What the…”
She appeared behind him and jabbed her hand into his side. She absorbed him and his memories became hers.
“Subject is a fifteen year old girl.”
“We can’t let the infection spread.”
“We must destroy her before she meets up with Alex Mercer.”
“Your job is to shut the fuck up and find them both.”
Kierra gasped as she came back to the present. She jumped and landed on top of the building.
“Where is this Alex Mercer?”
She began running and jumping across buildings. Suddenly, two military choppers flew by and headed downtown.
“They must be after Alex,” she said to herself, so she began to follow them.
When she arrived, she looked down and saw a guy in a hooded jacket and jeans. His hands were formed into claws and he was killing as many military personal as he could. Tanks and helicopters were shooting at him, but he never paused. Kierra studied him for a minute and then looked at her hands. They formed into the same type of claws he had.
“What am I?”
She looked back down and he was on the ground, hurt.
“No,” she cried. “I need him.”
She jumped down in front of him and faced the military.
“Get out of the way little girl!” a guy yelled out. “You don’t know who you’re messing with or who you are trying to protect.”
“Get away from him,” she yelled back.
“That’s the other subject!” another guy yelled out.
“Open fire!” the general called out.
Everyone began shooting at her. Kierra’s arm formed into a shield and she protected herself and Alex.
“Alex, you need to get up!”
Alex groaned and looked at her and her arm.
“Who are you?” he asked.
“It doesn’t matter right now,” she yelled over the firing. “You need to help me; I don’t know how to do anything yet.”
He realized what was happening. Quickly, he got up and in front of her. Kierra’s shield formed back into her arm.Alex’s hands formed back into the claws. He jammed the claws into the ground and spikes came up from underneath the military and killed everyone. He turned towards Kierra. Her hand was covering her mouth and her eyes were wide. She was terrified.
“Come on,” he said.
He ran and jumped on a building, Kierra followed. He kept jumping from building to building, and Kierra kept following.
“Wait!” she yelled out. “Where are you going?”
“Just keep following!” he yelled back.
“Just tell…” but Kierra couldn’t finish. There were images flashing before her eyes and voices were filling her head. She let out a scream and fell on top of a building. Alex stopped on a different building and looked back towards her. She was on her knees and holding her head. He jumped back over to her and crouched beside her.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
She slowly looked up at him and opened her eyes. Her hand reached out and grabbed him. The images and voices filled his head. Alex gasped and backed away. When he looked at Kierra again, she was crying, but she was crying blood instead of tears. Kierra shut her eyes again. She couldn't think or hear anything. The images stopped as fast as they began, the voices faded out, and the blood disappeared from her cheeks. Kierra slowly got up and she looked at Alex with worry in her eyes.
“You’re Kierra,” Alex said.
“How do you know?”
“I have absorbed others that were on the watch for you,” he said. “You’re special.”
“What do you mean?”
“You’re supposed to destroy the infection,” he said, grabbing her arms. “You’re the cure for the infection!”
“What!”
“Yes,” he said. “I have to keep you safe and get you to the top of that building,” he said, pointing to the tallest building in the city.
Kierra’s stomach dropped.
“One problem,” she said. “I’m terrified of heights.”
Alex laughed, “Even if you fall off, all you have to do is land on your feet. And even if you don’t land on your feet, you’ll still live.”
“What are we?”
“We’re the Prototype.”
Memories started filling Kierra’s head. She remembered the experimentation, the injections and mutation. She remembered everything.
“I am the cure,” she said to herself.
“Yes, you are.”
She looked up at him.
“But I don’t want to die,” she said, tears were beginning to form in her eyes.
“You’re not going to die,” he said. “I won’t let that happen.”
She looked at him and gave him a hug. He wrapped his arms around her.
“Why did this happen to us?” she asked.
“I don’t know,” he said while looking out towards the city. “But I’m going to figure out soon, and that person is going to pay. You’re just a child, for Christ’s sake. What kind of sick fucks are these people?”
A tear ran down Kierra’s cheek. Alex looked down at her face and lifted it up with his finger.
“Hey, don’t cry,” he said. “Everything is going to be okay. I promise.”
“You do?”
“Yeah, and I’ll be your guardian for now on, okay?”
Kierra smiled, “Okay that sounds good.”
“Come on,” he said. “Let’s get you to the top of that building so we can stop this infection.”
Suddenly, two choppers flew up besides the building. They aimed their guns at Alex and Kierra, and began firing. Alex’s hand formed into a huge blade. Kierra watched him in wonder. She looked at her hands and they formed into claws. Alex began running towards the edge of the building, but one of the choppers fired a missile and it hit him. He went flying back and fell over the edge of the building.
“Alex!” Kierra cried out.
She ran to the side of the building and looked down. He was lying on the ground, unconscious.
“No,” she breathed.
She looked back towards the choppers and her eyes narrowed. They began firing at her again, and she became enraged. She ran towards one of the choppers and jumped up into the air. She was above the chopper as her hand formed into a blade. She gathered up her strength and came down on top of the chopper and jumped off of it as it went down. It hit the ground and exploded. The other chopper fired a missile at her, but she caught it and threw it back; it burst into flames and fell towards the earth. Kierra ran to the other side of the building and jumped down to Alex.
“Alex,” she said while shaking him. “Get up. You need to wake up.”
Alex moaned and opened his eyes. He looked towards Kierra and she breathed a sigh of relief. He sat up and Kierra hugged him.
“Are you okay?” he asked her.
“You got shot by a missile and you’re worried about me?” she asked and then laughed.
“Well, I can’t have you getting hurt.”
Kierra stopped laughing and looked at him.
“I just took down two choppers without getting a scratch on me,” she said.
“No, you didn’t,” he said. “Look at your right side.”
She looked down and found two marks where two bullets grazed by.
“Oh,” she said.
“Yeah, but don’t worry. It’ll heal in a few seconds.”
Kierra looked down at the ground and closed her eyes.
“Kierra, what’s wrong?”
“I can’t believe I just killed those people,” she replied.
“Hey, you had to or they were going to kill you.”
She looked up at him, “I thought you said we couldn’t be destroyed.”
“It takes a lot to destroy us,” said Alex. “Though they don’t know how yet, but they’ll figure out soon.”
“I see.”
“Come on,” said Alex. “Let’s get to the top of that building.”
They both ran up the side of a building together and landed on the roof. Kierra looked towards the building that they were to headed for.
“It sure is tall,” she said. “Are you sure it’s the right one.”
“Yes,” said Alex. “I’m sure. I have absorbed a soldier that new the location.”
“Okay, then let’s go,” she said.
They jumped buildings and glided to others. They had one more building to clear, when suddenly, Kierra’s eyes turned pitch black.
“We don’t have much time,” she yelled at Alex.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
He stopped on a building and looked back at her.
“Kierra, your eyes.”
“It’s happening soon,” she said. “We have to hurry.”
Alex nodded and they began to head to the building. When they arrived, they both jumped and ran up the side of the building. Suddenly, five military choppers flew up behind them.
“Alex!”
“I got it,” he yelled to her. “You keep heading towards the top.”
He launched himself from the building. His hand formed into a blade and he came down on one of the choppers. He headed down to the ground with itand three choppers followed him. The last chopper kept following Kierra, though. She looked at it and kept running up the building. It started to shoot at her. She dodged the shots and kept running. The chopper shot a missile at her and it hit her. She began to fall, and the chopper got under her. She formed her hand into a blade and came down onto it. She launched herself off the chopper and began to run up the building again. She made it to the top and looked around. There were buildings covered in red stuff.
“That must be the infection.”
She looked down at the people and some were attacking others.
“He was right, the infection is spreading.”
She closed her eyes, and breathed deeply. She lifted into the air with her arms and legs spread out. She opened her eyes and this time they were glowing white. A white ball of energy surrounded her as she waited. The white ball grew larger and larger until it engulfed the whole city. Kierra yelled. She was becoming weaker and weaker. Suddenly, she felt a hand on her leg. The hand pulled her down into Alex’s arms.
“I told you I wasn’t going to let you die.”
She smiled at him. The white ball exploded and it knocked Kierra and Alex off the building. Kierra was knocked out from the explosion. As they fell, Alex grabbed on to her and positioned himself and landed on the ground. The impact sent cars flying. He bent over Kierra as the explosion got stronger. It lasted for a couple of seconds. When the light disappeared, Alex looked around and noticed that everything was back to normal. No buildings had red stuff on it. There were no infected. Everyone was walking the street like nothing had happened.
Kierra moaned and opened her eyes. She looked up at Alex and sat up.
“Did I do it right?” she asked.
“You did it perfectly,” he said to her, smiling.
She smiled back at him.
“Freeze!”
They both got up and looked around. They were surrounded by military personal.
“You, both, are coming with us,” said one of them.
“No,” said Kierra.
Alex put his hand on her shoulder, “Kierra, let’s just go with them and see what they want.”
Kierra looked at him and finally nodded.
A few minutes later, they arrived at a military base. Kierra was nervous about what was going to happen, but Alex seemed at ease. They were surrounded by military personal with automatic weapons. They were greeted by the general.
“Hello, Kierra, Alex,” he said, shaking their hands. “I am General Howard.”
“Hello, General,” said Alex.
Kierra said nothing. The general looked at her.
“I have brought you both here to say…thank you.”
“For what?” asked Kierra.
“For stopping the infection,” he said while looking at Kierra. “We weren’t sure if you were the cure and we weren’t sure if you would survive or not.”
“So that’s why you sent your men to kill us?” asked Alex, his voice was menacing.
“Like I said, we didn’t know,” said the general. “But it’s all over with now, and we can go on living.”
“What about Kierra and I?” asked Alex.
“Well now, that’s up to you,” was all the general said and he left the room.
The personal raised their guns to them.
"Ready!" yelled the leader.
“Shit,” said Alex, and he formed his right hand into a blade.
“Get ready,” said Kierra, and she formed her hands into claws.
“Fire!”
