About a guy unsure if real Love exist...

“The Lie of Love”

He was trying

to remember

if he had

ever been really

loved,

had a woman

ever woken up

with thoughts of

nothing but him

going through

her head

hoping somehow

that

no matter where

her day would

take her

it would be

with him,

whether they

are at a

beach,

in a car

or sitting with

their backs up

against

the dirty wall

of some dark

alley

if they were

together

then the day

would be worth

living,

he couldn’t think

of anyone

who came close

to any of these

bench marks

of love

in his life

and he was

pretty sure

he had never

done anything

to merit this

type of love

in his life

either,

he honestly

didn’t think

that such a

deep

pure love

really existed

he couldn’t picture

anyone caring

like that for

him

it was the

type of love

only found in

romance novels

not on the

streets of

real life

or was his

heart

just so shallow

he could see

no farther than

a phone call

a day or two

after

a night of

unbridled sex

both parties

agreeing

that they should

see

each other

again

real soon

but both

knowing

the truth,

they were just

compromising

setting love

on a shelf

for a few

hours

of companionship

with those extra

benefits

that are purely

physical

an appetite

being fed

without the

after thoughts

of when you’ll

see each other

again

a mutual

consented

romance

that dies with

the morning sun,

he was sure

real love

was a lie

a world of

movies,

books

and princess brides

that have warped

the playing field

where

real love is

concerned,

he felt

convenience

and familiarly

were what most

people

fell into

but for the

need

of having more

to hold on to

called it love,

he hoped he

was wrong

but if he

were pushed

into a bet

his money

would

be riding

against

true love

being real,

he didn’t mean

to sound

cynical

he had waited

for that

accidental

trip

causing love

to fall into

his arms

just like the

story book

said

but time

has

a way of

robbing

you,

breaking down

your dreams

loosening your

grip

letting your

fantasies slip

a little farther

away

each day

till you don’t

even realize

their gone,

no

he had never

been loved

like that

by anyone,

and in time

he’ll probably

forget

he even cared

to be…

This poses a great question....can story-book love really exist? I don't know....trust or rather lack of it, is a definite barrier, and none of us like to be hurt. Saying that, even cynical me would say it can exist -- at least for a while.

Thanks Hull, he might disagree with you, but I am still on the fence as to it's existence...Tom...

I do believe in this real love, Tom :) I am a fool for romance and all of those cheesy and cliche feelings. I love this story.
