Dope

Claw reckons Lesley must be on dope 'cause he's

always twitching and flicking his hair, and blinking

his eyes. But I don't think so 'cause I reckon that he's

read too many of Dr Buddha's books, and is too

spiritual to be on dope.

Claw tells me again that he thinks that Lesley's all

crap, and that he's just a fairy who's smoked too

much grass, and that I'm really stupid if I go 'round

to his place after school to read them stupid Dr Buddha

books 'cause I'm getting some weird ideas. He

reckons I hang 'round with Lesley too much, and he

reckons Lesley's on more drugs than grass.

Lesley's hair's really long now, and he never washes

it. Auntie Mary's seen him and she says he looks filthy,

and she doesn't know how his mother can put up

with him, and that she'd be real ashamed of him if

he were her son.

Lesley's always blinking, blinking more than he ever

did before, and he's always walking 'round barefoot,

like he ain't got no money to buy any shoes, and

maybe he hasn't, maybe he spends all his money on

drugs, like Claw says.
