Samsara

" Yes Jasper, " Dr Buddha says to me in his office.  " I

feel like I'm an uncle to you. Now why are you smoking

dope, it's very foolish. Look, have one of my cigarettes,

they taste better than yours, and they're safer too. They

have a special filter, you've got to protect your lungs you

know.

Now Jasper, I speak to you as to my own nephew. Why

do you want to throw your life away on drugs? Look, have

another cigarette Jasper, and then you can let me hypnotise

you, that'll calm you down, and then you won't need to take

drugs. You're trying a very dangerous shortcut to enlightenment

Jasper that's sure to fail, but first enjoy your cigarette.

You know Jasper I've always liked the title of that musical

" Stop the world, I want to get off. " It pretty much sums things

up doesn't it! We'd all like to get off this crazy world. But your

Auntie Mary doesn't see it that way, she wants to stay in

this crazy existence of suffering, in Samsara, this endless cycle

of birth and and death.

So I told your Auntie Mary that she'd probably live to a hundred

which she probably will. Not may people are physically strong

enough to survive being hit by a freight train. But it's a curse

to live that long, and it's a curse on you too, because you'll

have to look after her, and put up with her dementia, her

endless screams from her waterchair in the nursing home. "
