Wilderness

This wilderness,

This place that is neither

A room or a landscape,

But consists of the characteristics of each;

Threadbare carpet,

Charcoal limbs,

Cobwebs in the corner of a sunset.

This place of numb word.

This place of untuned flesh,

Squatting like an insect on old bones.

 Wrinkles scratched

Onto the mirror of a mirage.

Eyes peel the view from reconition.

The ear embedded in the wall.

This wilderness,

Has no need of snake or art,

Or dream-wet foliage

In the hollow of the wind.

Here the dream is vicarious,

And fingers stretch to strike,

The mist of moments

Trampled on the rock.
