Now the Cat was very eager,
Though his finances were meagre,
And he thought his plan was fine,
Though it really crossed the line.
He had decided to rebel,
But quite why we could not tell,
He marched his men against the Castle,
With a broom and with a parcel.
A soldier of the people,
Keeping watch upon the steeple,
Soon espied the Cat,
Marching in his Marshal’s hat.
“Oh my word!”
His cry was heard,
“All citizens must run,
For the Cat is marching on!”
“The time has come!” declared the King,
“To put down this uprising!”
All the cannon had been readied,
All the rifles had been steadied,
Yet the Cat did not appear.
For all his armies, grasped by fear,
Had all packed up and run away,
So the Cat had failed, at the end of the day.
