A piece I wrote after a break up.

No Returns

It was not stolen nor given.

In fact, you won it.

At the first sight of your smile, it was awoken, then tickled with your pronunciation of my name.

Guards came down and suddenly the possibility to finally live, and love was imminent.

It had become yours to keep, love and cherish. I had no problem with you winning because after all you played a fair game.

The word "perfect" began to have meaning, and so did my life.

With you, it found a safe place and called it home; a loving home to say the least.

Unfortunately, unknown forces are impelling we take on different roads from here on.

Today, we stand at a crossroads of uncertainties and differences.

The home we once built, crumbled leaving buried in the rubble; words we once spoke.

And the memories which live on haunt without mercy.

Although our home has collapsed, I know it could not have found a safer place than with you.

So please, if it's not too much to ask, I would like to have my heart back before I take the first step on the new road.

I will not be complete, but it was and still is the best part of me.

A very vivid description of the breakup. Nicely written with great flow of ideas. Love it.
