1 Comment = 1,000 reads

A comment’s worth a thousand reads

I’m sure you will agree.

Some readers click upon our work

Almost unceasingly.

They read and think, have nought to say,

Their silence may speak plain?

Perhaps it says, “Not sure ‘bout this,

Won‘t visit here again”

Another literary work

Is read by only one,

And yet their comment may be praise

Or criticism’s gun.

At least ‘tis read. From this I learn.

Who knows, I may improve,

I may get worse, deteriorate,

Unable to amuse,

Unable to philosophize,

Express some deeper thought.

Where comments I distinctly lack

Say one’s work’s value: nought.

A thank you to all those who have

Troubled themselves to write

A comment, whether long or short.

It pierces the dark night.

A sorry I must also say

To all those works I’ve read

And didn’t bother to comment,

Laud, critique leave. ’nough said.
