Driving to work today
the road divided by a grass median
about ten feet wide,
a squirrel, which is nature`s version
of total insanity
is stuck on the median
running back and forth
as the cars zip past.
I chuckle at this and continue to work,
I park and as I walk to my office
I pass the Post Office
there`s two mailboxes out front
a human squirrel is running back and forth
trying to decide which one to drop his letter into.
It occurs to me
that we`re all squirrels in our own way
we`re just supposed to be

the more intelligent beasts
