Like A Child To You

Like a child who cries for his playthings

I begged before You and cried --

In times of need, in the wasted times

To the child, You often lied.

I asked from You a part of life,

And happiness was its name.

But in return a pain came by,

The child had none to blame.

Like a child who longs for his fairytales

I looked at You with joy --

With drowsy eyes I waited in vain

Your truths just made me cloy.

I asked from You a gift of life,

And love was just its name.

But in return heartache came by,

The child had lost the game.

Like a child who fears the shadows

In darkness I cried for light --

I screamed and screamed but futile

You gifted me dark night.

I asked from You the truth of life,

And faith was just its name.

And in return distrust came by,

The child stood still as lame.
