This does not defeat me.

Your careless pose, that flashy smile,

I will not play the fool.

Not when the memory of it still burns - -

brighter every second in your company.

You will not gain my pity,

earn my trust,

piling lies on top of lies.

Worthless platitudes falling from lips

that should form easy smiles,

genuine laughter.

Surely you have noticed,

I am no longer that little girl

sitting in the window

always watching you drive away.
